The ICA Commission on Location-based Services and the Vienna University of Technology are pleased to invite you to the 13th International Conference on Location-Based Services (LBS 2016), which will take place in Vienna on November 14-16, 2016.

The conference will offer a common ground to colleagues from various disciplines where they can meet, interact and exchange knowledge, experience, plans and ideas on how LBS can and could be improved and on how it will influence both science and society.

We invite contributions in the following areas:

  • 3D and augmented reality

  • Human factors in LBS
  • Smart cities
  • Legal, ethical and business aspects in LBS
  • Open source solutions and standards

Please submit your contributions according to the guidelines (see website) and the following deadlines:

  • June 2016: Submission of full papers
  • 1 July 2016: Submission of abstracts for work in progress
  • July 2016: Notification of acceptance for full papers
  • August 2016: Notification of acceptance for work in progress
  • End of August 2016: Submission of camera-ready full papers
  • 18 September 2016: Submission of abstracts for showcases
  • 15 October 2016: Submission of final papers for online proceedings

You can also download the call for papers from the conference website. Please be aware of the full paper deadline of June 1. High-quality submissions are intended to be published in the Journal of LBS and in the Springer book proceedings.

Please know that the International Cartographic Association (ICA) has kindly provided research scholarships to support young researchers’ participation in a commission workshop/conference, like LBS 2016.
