The Institute of Cartography and Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodetic Science invites applications for a
Junior Professorship (Salary Scale W1 NBesO) in Big Geospatial Data
starting on January 1, 2017. The position is limited to six years (with an evaluation after 3 years).
Today’s ubiquitous mobile Geosensors capture large, heterogeneous data sets in high temporal frequency. The professorship will deal with the intelligent handling of these data in research and teaching. Successful candidates have an academic background in geoinformatics, computer science, or a related field and have demonstrated an excellent record in the analysis of geospatial data and processes, ideally with a strong foundation in and orientation towards at least two of the three areas of Spatial Data Mining, Visualization, and parallel processing in Big Data Frameworks.
Distinguished didactic qualifications, an international orientation, and the willingness to carry out interdisciplinary research are required, as is the ability to teach in German.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with § 30, Niedersachsen Higher Education Act (NHG). Part-time employment can be arranged on request. As an equal opportunities employer, Leibniz Universität Hannover has set itself the strategic aim of significantly increasing the proportion of women. Female scientists are therefore particularly encouraged to apply. Applications from abroad are especially welcome. Equally qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference.
Further information is available from the Head of the Institute Prof. Dr. Monika Sester (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Please submit your full application (CV, research statement describing past research and plans for future research, teaching portfolio, describing past teaching and plans for the future) preferably via email by August, 15th, 2016 to:
